Lake Pleasant trash program off to good start

A new program to combat trash left behind by visitors to Lake Pleasant Regional Park is working.

Memorial Day kicked off Maricopa County’s anti-litter campaign, which hands out orange garbage bags to park-goers during busy holidays to pick up and throw away their own trash.

“Yes, the program did have a positive impact around the park,” said Dawna Taylor, spokeswoman for the county Parks and Recreation Department. “While our team was out and about in the park over the Memorial Day weekend, park visitors were stopping them to ask for additional bags."
