Kiley: BOA should make Sun City overlay decision right away

Posted

I honestly do not know why these things cannot be handled once and for all (“Overlay decision in Limbo,” Sun City Independent, Dec. 7, 2022).

Do we need to put stronger language into the bylaw buyers sign upon purchase of a home in Sun City? We have all paid our dues and it seems ridiculous that we have to keep responding to people who cannot seem to follow the rules. I have lived here in Sun City for 11 years, in the Valley since 1985 and have never seen the blatant disregard for other people that we are seeing now.

Back in the early 1990s you could not drive through Sun City at night without a destination. Now we can’t keep children out?

I will continue responding to the county but it seems to me that we need a lot of help from the SCHOA and the county to uphold the rights of the residents who follow the bylaws. Apparently, these people in question do not care to comply so we should not care to offer them a solution other than to move the child out.

I hope SCHOA works to find permanent solutions to this problem. We really are living in fear of losing the age restrictions in our neighborhood.
