Jean Deurloo, 91Jean Deurloo, 91, of Apache Junction, passed away on Oct. 5 in Mesa. She was born June 19, 1916 at Gunnison, Colo. to Tad and Georgia Knowles. At age 9, she and her family moved to Golden, Colo. where she lived and went through grade school and high school. She then earned her Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics from Colorado State University in FT. Collins, Colo. Following graduation she taught school in Boone, Colo. for one year then moved to Steamboat Springs where she worked as a home demonstration agent. In 1944, she married Joe Deurloo. They owned and operated the Steamboat Garage and the J and J Laundromat. Mrs. Deurloo was active in many civic affairs and a charter member of the Bets Sigma Phi Sorority that was organized in 1941. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #95. She also found time to do substitute teaching in the local schools.In 1966, the Deurloos moved to Apache Junction, but continued to spend their summers in Steamboat Springs.She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, her parents and her two brothers, Byron and W.A.She is survived by her son, Robert (Joan) Deurloo of Salmon, Idaho; her two grandchildren, Brian (Jennifer) Deurloo of Sheridan, Wyo., Heather (Ren) Martyn; great grandchildren, Andrew and Ryan Sabia, all of Steamboat Springs; sister, Polly Nichols of Columbia, Miss.; and brother, Ralph Knowles of Vero Beach, Fla.Memorial services were held Oct. 10 at John Calvin Presbyterian Church.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Laureate Alpha Sigma Chapter for Local Charity Projects, 936 S.
