Two people died Tuesday morning in a crash involving a semi-truck and a car in the 3300 block of West Grand Avenue, Phoenix police said.

The rush-hour collision occurred just after 7 a.m. Dec. 10, leaving the driver of the car, Aaron Soto, 28, and its passenger, Angel Loera, 28, dead at the scene, according to a release.

Investigators learned Soto was driving northwest on Grand Avenue, and witnesses said the car was speeding when it struck the back of the truck whose driver was making a left onto 33rd Avenue from southeast Grand Avenue, the release stated.

The truck driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and showed no signs of impairment.
