KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Haeran Ryu, a major winner this year at the Women’s PGA Championship and the Evian Championship, withdrew from the LPGA Tour's Maybank Classic before her first round Thursday.
No reason for her withdrawal just before her scheduled tee time was disclosed in the 78-player, no-cut field at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club. The No. 3-ranked Ryu appeared at the bottom of the results as a “WD.”
Last week, Yuri Yoshida won the BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea. Ryu led the tournament by four strokes going into the final round but shot 73 to finish one stroke behind Yoshida and tied for second.
