Google plans $600M investment in Mesa with data center, mayor says

A more then $600 million investment is planned with the development of a Google data center in the city of Mesa.

“Mesa will be home to Google’s first facility in Arizona, with an over $600 million investment into our community,” Mesa Mayor John Giles said in a Sept. 6 statement on Facebook @MayorGiles. “Our city is a great place to locate a business and we continue to compete on a global scale. We look forward to a strong relationship with Google.”

The 187-acre industrial development to be constructed west of Sossaman Road and north of Elliot Road is known as Project “Red Hawk.” The look and landscaping for the first of three phases of the Google data center were discussed at a June meeting of the Mesa Design Review Board.
