Posted
A traffic stop for speeding in Goodyear resulted in the recovery of $216,000 in methamphetamine, according to police.
Around 10 a.m. Tuesday, Goodyear police stopped a vehicle for speeding near Interstate 10 and Bullard Avenue.
Police said the occupants were acting nervous and gave conflicting statements to officers. A K-9 alerted officers to the presence of illegal narcotics in the vehicle, a release states.
After obtaining a search warrant, police located 45 individually-wrapped bundles of meth which weighed 1.2 pounds each for a total of 54 pounds. Police said the estimated street value of the meth is $216,000.
Rito Delgado Renteria, 60, and Blanca Moncada, 53, both of Yucaipa, California, are facing charges of transporting dangerous drugs.
