The city of Goodyear has finalized the election results for mayor and council in a special meeting, certifying the winners.

The official results from the July 21 primary election saw Mayor Joe Pizzillo defeat challenger and former Councilmember Bill Stipp. Pizzillo had 77.5% of the vote, or 12,484 ballots cast, versus Stipp's 3,622 votes.

In the council race, Brannon Hampton, Sheri Lauritano and Vicki Gillis were elected. Hampton currently is vice mayor and Gillis was an incumbent council member. Lauritano previously served three terms on the city council.

Jason Kish finished outside the top three, trailing Gillis by 331 votes.

Under the Goodyear City Charter, the candidates receiving the highest number of votes are elected if each receives more than a majority of the votes cast for that office. The terms for the newly elected officials begin Jan. 1, 2027.

The city will host a special induction ceremony in January to officially swear in the mayor and newly elected council members.
