A man is in the hospital after he was involved in a collision involving his golf cart in Sun City, according to a sheriff's office spokesman.

The incident occurred March 8 at about 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of 105th Avenue and Alabama Drive.

According to Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Calbert Gillett, a 79-year-old woman driving southbound on 105th Avenue when she entered an intersection and struck a 68-year-old man driving his golf cart  eastbound on Alabama Avenue.

Medical officials transported the man to a West Valley hospital with life-threatening injuries. The woman did not sustain any injuries. Both were the sole occupants of their vehicles.

Sgt. Gillett said impairment is not considered a factor.
