Gold Canyon Community Inc. is hosting presentations on critical water issues and their impact statewide and locally in a Zoom meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5.

Pinal County Supervisor Steve Miller, District 3, who also serves on the board of directors for Central Arizona Project, will speak on CAP’s impact on Gold Canyon and Pinal County along with issues relating to the drought, according to a release.

He will also provide information relating to Gold Canyon water issues that will give insight into local planning efforts.

A Zoom meeting link is available at gccincaz.org/events.

Joining Supervisor Miller will be Arizona Water Co. Water Resources Manager Terri Sue Rossi and Water Conservation Specialist Raluca Mihalcescu addressing how the water company is dealing with the continued severe drought and climate change, the release states.

“AWC will identify where Gold Canyon’s drinking water supply comes from and insight on how AWC will provide for new development in the Gold Canyon/Apache Junction service area. Terri Sue and Raluca will offer information on methods AWC has in place to save water and if they foresee future shortages in Gold Canyon,” the release states. “Presenters will address many other related water and drought issues regarding Arizona, Pinal County, and Gold Canyon. Presentations will be followed by a question-and-answer session.”

Supervisor Jeff Serdy, District 5, and Bill Staples, Arizona Water Co. division manager, have also been invited to attend.
