Glendale’s downtown ‘cafe lighting’ on track for March finish

Work is continuing on the Downtown Cafe Lighting Project with an expected March finish.

Planning discussions that started in September 2020 yielded a concept to add the decorative lighting flourishes to Historic Downtown Glendale, along Glendale Avenue between 58th Drive and 58th Avenue. The $721,000 cost is funded through a Community Development Block Grant, which allows specific uses toward beautification projects.

Last week contractors removed the temporary fencing enclosures in place on the north side of Glendale Avenue in Murphy Park. This week workers will pour concrete that will serve as the foundation for the project’s electrical cabinet in the park.
