Glendale will continue downtown light beautification project analysis

New cost exceeds original estimate marked for grant funding

Everyone seems to agree Historic Downtown Glendale is in need of a revitalization, and even rising costs for adding decorative lighting should be a part of that.

So says the City Council through a consensus to keep analyzing the budget and upcoming variables for the Downtown Cafe Lighting Project that has been under way since September. The council made its decision to keep moving forward after hearing a report about the project’s additional costs at a Feb. 23 workshop.

The project would potentially include three phases of adding decorative lighting downtown, with funding coming from a community development block grant, which has specific use toward beautification projects.
