Glendale police have made an arrest in a homicide.

GPD on Friday announced the arrest of Quincy Lofton, 37, on charges of shooting and killing Maurice Marshall, 41, in an apartment complex parking lot.

Just after 7:15 p.m., on Tuesday, May 23, officers responded to reports of shots fired in the parking lot of an apartment complex near the 6700 block of West Glendale Avenue. Officers arrived and located an adult male victim with multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim, identified as Maurice Marshall, was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

The investigation determined Marshall and Lofton’s vehicles were parked next to one another when a verbal altercation occurred. Lofton proceeded to allegedly fire multiple rounds at Marshall before fleeing the area.

Witness statements and surveillance footage led to the identification of Lofton.

Just after 2:30 pm on May 25, Lofton was located nearby the scene of the homicide and was arrested without incident. He was booked on second degree murder and weapons charges.

Police say Lofton also had an outstanding warrant for extreme DUI and was allegedly on probation for a significant history of violent felony offenses.
