Glendale police arrest man charged with violent assault on Circle K clerk

Glendale police arrested a suspect wanted for allegedly robbing a Circle K and violently assaulting a clerk there back in December.

Police say Salvador Gonzalez Duenas, 26, was taken into custody without incident and booked for one count of aggravated assault, one count of burglary, and one count of robbery. The assault was captured on surveillance video.

Just before 3 a.m. on Dec. 18, Glendale police responded to a report of a strong-armed robbery near the 5900 block of West Bethany Home Road. A subject, who was attempting to obtain alcohol after the legally mandated time, was asked to leave by the victim, a clerk for Circle K.

The suspect proceeded to choke the victim multiple times and caused the victim to sustain a broken leg, according to investigators. The suspect then went to the cooler where he obtained alcohol and exited the store without purchasing it.

Utilizing Silent Witness and the media, police obtained a tip which led to Gonzalez Duenas being identified. Evidence was also located which led to the arrest of Gonzalez Duenas on Thursday, March 30, by Violent Crimes detectives near the 6300 block of West Maryland Avenue.

The Glendale Police Department thanks the public and Silent Witness for their assistance in this case.
