Glendale Midwestern’s podiatric medicine students earn foundation scholarships

Posted

The Arizona College of Podiatric Medicine at Midwestern University in Glendale, in partnership with the Bako Medical Education Foundation, announced three recipients of the Bako Medical Education Foundation Scholarships.

AZCPM Class of 2023 students Rajat Lahiri, Kyle Parker and Payaam Tavakoli were recently announced as Bako Medical Education Foundation Scholarship awardees. The scholarships have been established to support and enhance medical education in the field of podiatric medicine and dermatology.

Midwestern’s Glendale campus is located at 19555 N. 59th Ave.

The grant agreement between Bako Medical and Midwestern establishes an endowment of up to $100,000 – $25,000 per year over four years, subject to certain conditions – that will fund these scholarships for outstanding AZCPM students.

The agreement continues the relationship between Midwestern and Bako Medical and its sponsor BakoDx, whose podiatric experts routinely visit the university to teach biopsies and other procedures, as well as demonstrate lab procedures for students.

"All of us at the Arizona College of Podiatric Medicine want to thank the BMEF and their continuing support of podiatric medical education,” Jeffrey L. Jensen, dean, Arizona College of Podiatric Medicine, shared in a statement. “Their generosity and the scholarship opportunities made available to our AZCPM students will provide an important contribution to the training of tomorrow's podiatric healthcare team."
