Glendale council to discuss Midtown District

Glendale City Council will hear a presentation on how to revitalize its Midtown District at a 1:30 p.m. workshop, Tuesday, March 7 at Council Chambers, 5850 W. Glendale Ave.
The area is bounded by 43rd and 51st avenues, Myrtle Avenue and Ocotillo Road. It is the eastern entry into the city on Glendale Avenue.
According to Urban Land Institute, which did the report, Midtown is ripe for revitalization but faces complex challenges that have hindered its economic opportunities over the years. The consultant lists key actions for the city to improve the area.
Also on the agenda is a discussion on email retention and an item on making Columbus Day a city holiday.
The council meets earlier in the day at 9 a.m. workshop to discuss the fiscal year 2017-18 budget.
