Other than a mutual endorsement from the Glendale Chamber of Commerce, Lupe Conchas and Lupe Encinas are running their own city council campaigns in their own districts.
Both attended a forum led by the GFWC Glendale Woman's Club Tuesday night and said they share more than that endorsement and a first name. Conchas and Encinas both discussed how national-level partisan politics trickled down to their local council races - to the benefit of their opponents.
“I’ve been the victim of exactly this. I’ve been running my campaign with honor, being very humble and based on my merits. The only reason I decided to run is this is a non-partisan race,” Encinas said. “I want to represent all my residents, not caring that they have a D or R. I’m here to represent families, communities, small and big businesses.”
