Gallego has early lead in Senate race

Ruben Gallego has an early lead over Kari Lake in the race to claim the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Kyrsten Sinema.

In the first returns reported Tuesday night, Election Day by the Arizona Secretary of State, Gallego had 963,373 votes, or about 52.5%. That’s a lead for the Democrat of almost 123,000 votes over Lake, the Republican, who has 849,664 votes, or 45.7%.

There are almost 4.4 million registered voters in Arizona.
