Frank J. Smith

Frank J. Smith, 80Frank J. Smith, 80, of Sun City West formerly of Crystal Lake, Ill., passed away October 19, 2006 after a lengthy illness. A native of Chicago, Ill., he was a graduate of Loyola University there and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean conflict. After his military service he moved to Crystal Lake where he was a retailer and later a real estate broker. He and his wife, Jeri, retired to Sun City West in 1991. Frank was a commander of American Legion Post 94 in Sun City West and had also been active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Lions Club, and St. Vincent de Paul Society.He was preceded in death by son James, his first wife, Aileen, his parents, Francis and Agnes, brother Courtney (Helen LaPat), and sisters Joanne (Charles) Edwards and Kathleen. He is survived by his wife, his children Frank (Lisa), Patricia (Terry) Farrell, and Michael (Carey), his sister Sr. Patricia Smith, OP, and brother Donald (Mary), and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.A memorial mass was celebrated Oct. 23 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Sun City West.
