Florence residents asked to submit ballot arguments

Posted

On March 21, the Florence Town Council voted to refer a permanent base adjustment to the 1979-1980 base expenditure limit to a vote on the August 2, ballot. Arguments or statements supporting or opposing the ballot measure may be submitted for publication in the election voter information pamphlet.

According to a press release, arguments for the voter pamphlet cannot exceed 300 words in length and must contain the original sworn statement of each person sponsoring it. If the argument is sponsored by an organization, it must be signed by two executive officers of the organization or, if sponsored by a political committee, it must be signed by the committee’s chairman or treasurer.

The town clerk encourages submitters to submit the text of their argument electronically.

A payment of $200 to offset a portion of the printing costs must accompany the submission of each argument. The textual content of the arguments will be printed exactly as submitted, as the town is not authorized to correct spelling or grammatical errors.

Arguments must be submitted by 5 p.m., Wednesday, May 4 to the Florence Town Clerk’s Office at 775 N. Main St., Florence, AZ, 85132.

For more information, call the Florence Town Clerk at 520-868-7552 or visit https://www.florenceaz.gov/pba/
