Florence man pleads guilty to shooting and kidnapping, gets 10 years in prison

A Florence man has been sentenced to a decade in prison after pleading guilty  to shooting another man during an argument.

Pinal County Superior Court Judge Steven Fuller last month sentenced Donald Block, 43, to 10 years followed by five years of supervised probation.

Block pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and kidnapping connected to a March incident when authorities said he shot  another 43-year-old man.

The Pinal County Sheriff's Office responded to the Florence shooting and deputies found a man lying in the driveway of a home.

Deputies found and stopped a black Mercedes Benz that matched the description of a vehicle that fled the scene, finding Block inside the vehicle, according to a release.

Officials said witness and victim accounts indicated Block and the victim were arguing at the home prior to Block firing a single shot that struck the victim’s torso.

“During the incident, Block prevented aid to the victim by dragging him to a rear room of the house after he had been shot and interfered with the roommates' attempts to get the victim out of the house and to call 911,” officials said in the release.
