Three people were stabbed late Saturday night and a 29-year-old man died at a hospital following a fight at a family gathering, Phoenix police said.
Officers were called just before 10 p.m. Jan. 25 to investigate a stabbing in the 7500 West Warner Street. They found three victims all suffering from apparent stab wounds.
During the initial investigation, patrol officers searching the neighborhood detained a man later identified as Hunter Strawbridge, 29, who was believed to have been involved, according to a Phoenix Police Department release.
Two of the victims, a man and woman, were taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries and later released. The third victim, 29-year-old Jake Carbonell, was taken to a hospital in critical condition. He died at the hospital.
“Witnesses at the scene confirmed Strawbridge was the suspect that had stabbed all three victims before running from the scene,” the release stated.
Strawbridge was booked into jail.
Detectives took over the investigation, and it was “learned that a fight between Carbonell and Strawbridge happened while at a family gathering and led to Strawbridge stabbing Carbonell," the release stated.
