Faith (Fay) E. Olson, 96, of Sun City West, AZ, formerly of Delhi, NY, died on April 23, 2025 after living a long and full life. Faith was born in Albert City, Iowa on July 20, 1928, daughter of the late Anna (Holmen) and Arthur Peterson. Her family later moved to Chicago, IL where she graduated from Lakeside High School. She met her beloved husband, John Olson at work at Montgomery Ward in Chicago. They married on April 26, 1952 and together they enjoyed 49 years of marriage. While living in Delhi, NY, she again worked at Montgomery Ward before starting her position at the Village Office, eventually becoming the Delhi Village Clerk – a position she truly loved. She was active at the First Presbyterian Church of Delhi in the choir and women’s groups and began her love of quilting with friends. After she and John retired to Arizona, they enjoyed daily trips to the swimming pool where she said she ‘exercised her body and her mouth’. She was an active member of the Desert Palms Presbyterian Church, volunteering with the fellowship committee, Stephen’s ministry, quilt club and ushering. Faith also volunteered at the Sun City West PORA visitor center and at Del Webb Hospital. She was very involved with the Palo Verde Patchers Quilt Club, making many beautiful quilts, acting as Treasurer for many years, and receiving the Quilter of the Year award in 2005. Faith loved and was very grateful for her family. She is survived by her children: Karen Porto of Sun City West, AZ, John Scott (Katie) Olson of Coupeville, WA, Jennifer (Brian) Ackley of Manlius, NY and Lawrence Olson of Phoenix, AZ; brother, Luther Peterson; 9 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Faith was preceded in death by her husband, John Olson; daughter, Lori Ann Olson; sons-in-law, Vic Porto and Wayne Hicks; and her siblings, Hope Buckner, Evangeline Peterson, Arthur Peterson, Ronald Peterson and Merrill Peterson. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 10 at 1:00 pm at Desert Palms Presbyterian Church in Sun City West, AZ. Donations in her memory can be made to St. Mary’s Food Bank or St. Vincent de Paul in Phoenix, AZ or the charity of your choice.
