Copeland, 80 Sun City - Edwin P. "Bud" Copeland, a 21-year resident of Sun City, died Jan. 31, 2017 in a pedestrian/vehicle accident. He was born Nov. 10, 1936, in St. Louis, Mo., and moved to Sun City from Phoenix. Bud graduated from Phoenix Union High School in May 1955 and joined the Air Force in June, serving four years in Japan and Thailand. After service, Bud served as a postal clerk for 31 ½ years with the U.S. Post Office in Phoenix. Bud was an avid bowler, winning many trophies in his young adult years. He enjoyed playing cards, especially 3-13, often being a winner. Bud is survived by his wife, Carolyn. They would have been married 50 years in June 2017. He is predeceased by his parents, Ervin and Edna Copeland; and his only brother, Tom Copeland. A memorial service will be held Feb. 12, at 9 a.m. during regular Sunday morning worship services at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, 8902 W. Deer Valley Road, Peoria. Bud was a church elder for many years and enjoyed singing solos and attending Bible studies. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer's Association, Desert Southwest Chapter, 1028 E. McDowell Road, Phoenix, AZ 85006. His cremation was handled by Heritage Funeral Chapel, 623-974-3671.
