Drug task force seizes over $100K in drugs, weapons in Tempe

The Tempe Police Department assisted the Maricopa County Drug Suppression Task Force in an Aug. 2 seizure that netted firearms and drugs.
Detectives of the MCDST with the assistance of Tempe police executed a search warrant at a location within the city as part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking.
Task force detectives seized the following:
A cell phone
Two vehicles
Five firearms (three Glocks and two semi-automatic rifles)
Nine pounds of psilocybin mushrooms ($28,800 value)
21 pounds of marijuana flower ($42,000 value)
27 grams of amphetamine powder
95 ounces of THC Cannabis (includes edibles) ($38,000 value)
125 amphetamine pills ($1,250 value)
650 grams of marijuana pre-rolls (Flower) ($9,750 value)
One juvenile suspect was taken into custody. The suspect was armed at the time he was contacted by Tempe police.
“I’m grateful for the excellent investigative work our detectives do every day to take drugs and criminals off our streets,” Sheriff Paul Penzone said in the release.
“I’m also proud of the collaboration between law enforcement agencies across the Valley as teamwork is key to public safety.”
