Lanes along State Route 87 were closed Saturday afternoon near Gilbert Road following a rollover, officials said.

The rollover occurred after noon Dec. 16 when an Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper attempted to stop the driver of a vehicle that was speeding southbound on SR 87, according to DPS.

“The suspect driver would not yield. A pursuit ensued,” DPS officials stated in a release.

The suspect driver lost control of his vehicle, and it rolled over.

A passenger in the vehicle was not injured, and the driver was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries, officials said.

All lanes were reopened by about 7 p.m. Dec. 16, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
