Democratic recorder candidate says lack of debate is a ‘missed opportunity’ for Arizona voters

Tim Stringham discusses the future of Arizona elections in Justin Heap’s absence

Democratic county recorder candidate Tim Stringham showed up unopposed at the Arizona Clean Elections debate Thursday, Sept. 12, to discuss his plans for office if elected as elections umpire in Maricopa County.

Stringham said it was “unfortunate” that State Representative and Republican candidate Justin Heap opted not to debate him, adding that he has not had much of a chance to hear his opponent speak, save for his social media posts saying current County Recorder Stephen Richer’s election department shared “lies and half-truths.”

“I think it’s a missed opportunity to not come out here and explain what those lies and half-truths are,” Stringham said. “I certainly don’t know what they are, and I would have loved the opportunity to hear them.”
