Dale, 79, passed away peacefully in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, on April 24, 2023. He was born in Sigourney, Iowa, on February 5, 1944, to Emmaline and Boyd Trier. Dale lived a full life defined by resilience, curiosity, and a love for adventure. In 2018, Dale was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer, which he bravely overcame through surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and unwavering determination. Though his health continued to challenge him in the years that followed—including a pneumothorax and esophageal complications—Dale remained undeterred, always ready to travel, explore, and find joy in life’s little pleasures. He had a passion for classic rock, Spanish guitar, fast cars, and good food—especially liver and onions, biscuits and gravy at roadside diners, ice cream, and the occasional late-night “munchie” run. He loved sharing what brought him joy, whether it was playing backgammon, going on road trips, walking around parking lots to admire cars, sailing, or hiding Easter eggs. His thoughtfulness lived in his gestures, like the final Easter packages he sent—small, sweet reminders of his love. He is survived by his daughters Dominique Trier, Nicole Trier, and Noelle Trier; their mothers, Rosario Trier and Diane Page; his grandchildren Michelle Trier, Pam Trier, Ale Trier, Zoe Crute Osborne, and Emilie Osborne; and his great-grandchild, Blake Byars Trier. Dale will be remembered for his strength, warmth, adventurous spirit, and the pride he had in his family. He often told his children how proud he was of them, and his legacy of love and resilience lives on in their hearts. A private remembrance will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to share a memory, play your favorite classic rock song, enjoy a bowl of ice cream, or visit a local diner in his honor.
