The alleged theft of an election device by a Maricopa County elections worker last week will not have any impact on the upcoming elections because the county’s security protocols held up, county officials told the media on Tuesday.
“(The) protocols that are in place that have ensured that this very unfortunate incident has not affected election security in any way,” Maricopa County Supervisor Bill Gates said in a news conference Tuesday. “...This proves that our protocols work.”
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office arrested Phoenix resident Walter Ringfield, 27, on Friday after the temporary election worker allegedly stole a key fob to election tabulation machines from an ballot tabulation center.
