The Higher Learning Commission has approved accreditation for a new nursing degree program at the Maricopa County Community College District.
The program provides a pathway for registered nurses to further their education and earn a bachelor’s degree, according to a release. The program will be offered in the fall of 2024 at GateWay Community College.
"As Arizona faces a nurse shortage, our newest bachelor's degree is a step in the right direction that will help mitigate this critical workforce shortage in the healthcare industry," MCCCD Chancellor Dr. Steven R. Gonzales said.
Registration is anticipated to begin in March 2024, with applications being accepted as early as September 2023, the release stated.
