Apache Junction - Colonel Eugene Mackey passed away Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016. He was born Oct. 7, 1924 in Atoka, Okla. to Virgie and James Thomas, who preceded him in death. He retired from Arizona State University in 1987. Survivors include his loving wife of 73 years, Mardelle; one child, Tracy (Kathie) Mackey of Mesa; and two grandchildren, Ty (Bryony) Mackey of Mesa and Kate Mackey of San Diego, Calif. A private service will be held for immediate family.
