Chandler study examines Hunt Highway changes for bikes lanes

Chandler is conducting an online survey through Nov. 15 coupled with a Nov. 2 open house to share information and take comments on a traffic calming and separated bike lane study.

The study stems from information acquired during the 2019 Transportation Master Plan Update in which residents expressed an interest in bicycling but had safety concerns, according to the city.

Traffic calming and bicycle improvements along Hunt Highway were recommended in the 2019 Transportation Master Plan.

The study area consists of a three-mile stretch of Hunt Highway from Cooper Road to Val Vista Drive. Three alternatives have been developed for consideration, according to a release.

They include a shared use path on the north side of Hunt Highway, one-way protected bike lanes on each side of Hunt Highway and two-way protected cycle track on one side of Hunt Highway.

To take the survey: www.chandleraz.gov/HuntHighwayStudy.

The open house will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Nov. 2 at the Chandler Nature Center, 4050 E. Chandler Heights Road.
