The person was on the Gilbert Road overpass that crosses Loop 202 in east Chandler. Both Gilbert Road and Loop 202 were closed in both directions for about six hours.
Police said after a lengthy ordeal, a 31-year-old woman was moved to safety at about 1:30 p.m. and was transported for a medical evaluation.
"Officers collaborated with multiple local agencies to ensure the safety of all involved," Chandler Police stated in the release. "The Chandler Police Department appreciates the community's patience and cooperation."
Police also stated if anyone in the U.S. needs support or mental health resources, they can call or text 911 or 988.
"Please remember, you’re not alone," police stated. "Help is just a phone call away."
