Catherine Miranda to run for reelection in LD 11

Posted

Name: Sen. Catherine Miranda
Age: 61
District: LD11
Hometown: South Phoenix
Employment: State Senator
Community involvement: Elected official, former teacher, School Administrator and school board member

Why did you choose to run?

I have served in the legislature for a total of 14 years. My community is the community I grew up in, worked and was educated in. My roots have been my sole reason to serve.

What do you see as the biggest issue facing the state heading into the next legislative session?

Homelessness. Many issues that haven’t been prioritized, such as affordability, education, jobs, and healthcare, lead to homelessness in one way or another.

What bills do you plan to introduce to deal with this issue?

A comprehensive, omnibus bill that addresses homelessness and gaps in our system.

Why do you think you are the best candidate for the position?

Experience matters. I know my community, from my community and raised in my community.

What are issues you believe could be common ground between the political parties during the next session?

Miranda said that "Homelessness, addressing our SMI population, immigration and education," were important topics to consider.
