A candlelight vigil is planned 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at Miracle League Baseball Stadium, as the search for missing Scottsdale resident Najib “Jubi” Monsif continues.

Monsif, 20, was last seen at his home in Scottsdale on Sept. 23.

Police officials and volunteers have been searching around Scottsdale for Monsif, who has autism. Monsif was last seen at his home near Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and Via Linda.

The vigil is planned to pray and bring hope to the Monsif family, event organizers say.

“We ask that we come together as a community and unite in prayer and hope for Najib’s safe return,” vigil organizers said online.

Miracle League Baseball Stadium is at 11130 E. Cholla St., in Scottsdale.

Participants are encouraged to park in the shopping center across the street.

Police officials say, during the initial investigation, searches included the neighborhood and surrounding areas including parks, shopping centers, the McDowell Mountain Preserve, canals and the places Monsif is known to frequent.

The family has launched a social media campaign to encourage local residents to keep an eye out for Monsif, and started a GoFundMe page.

Monsif is described as a middle eastern male, about 5-foot, 10-inches with a thin build and possibly wearing all black clothing. He can speak and is reported to have the mental capacity of an 8-year-old child.

He does not have his cell phone with him and does not drive. It is believed he left his home on foot.

According to the family’s GoFundMe page, Monsif walks with a distinct shuffle and frequently has his shirt covering his nose. If you see Najib, stay with him and call 911 immediately.
