How much of the justification for the utility rate increase is due to capital improvements’ already completed debt service?
When Chandler negotiated with Intel for the Fab expansion project, Chandler agreed to fund $24 million of the cost, while Intel’s share was only $2 million, the balance of the cost coming from Federal funding. Since the commencement of the water/water treatment facility project in support of the Intel expansion, the costs for the new utility infrastructure has more than doubled, to over $49 million.
Why do Chandler property owners have to pay for Intel’s utility needs? Chandler has boasted about Intel’s expansion, at the additional cost placed on taxpayer backs!
Not to mention the Intel expansion has added huge ugly dangerous chemical storage towers on Intel’s property. placing significant risk to residents in the event of a leak or explosion and turning the beautiful residential Ocotillo community into an industrial zone.
