SUN CITY WEST - Betty Joyce Mason passed away on November 24, 2016. Betty was born on Mar. 18, 1937 in Staunton, Va., daughter of Bessie and William Nuckols. She attended Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, Va., where she received her degree as a registered nurse. She met her husband to be, Gordon Lee Mason, MD while completing her nursing training in Williamsburg, Va., and they were married in 1958. They have one child, Linda Marie Straub of Surprise; and two grandchildren, Ashley Straub of Surprise, and Ryan Straub of Orlando, Fla. She was an avid bowler, and participated in several leagues. She also loved to travel and did so extensively with her husband following their retirements. Preceding her in death were her parents, brothers Hugh Lee, Owen, and Oscar. Surviving her is husband, Gordon, daughter, Linda and her two grandchildren, A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church on January 7, 2016 at 11:00AM, the Reverend Dr. James Bonsell officiating. A reception will follow in the social hall. Camino del Sol funeral chapel and cremation center of Sun City West is in charge of arrangements.
