SUN CITY WEST - Born Barbara Ann Rainbow on June 29, 1934, in Waterloo, Iowa, Barbara married Don Marine on April 6, 1953, in Princeton, Ill. She was a graduate of Waterloo West High School and received her B.A. from the University of Iowa. She received her Masters of Arts in Library Sciences from Illinois State University. Her teaching and library career in Illinois included: Richwoods High School (1959-1965); East Peoria Junior High (1969-1975); and, Pekin High School (1975-1977). She was named Director of Libraries for Washington, Illinois in 1977, where she served until retirement in 1996. After residing in Peoria and Morton, Illinois, for over forty years, Barbara and Don retired to Sun City West, in 1999 where Barbara died June 2, 2011. She was active and enjoyed participating in golf, tennis, fitness and bridge. Barbara and her talented and loving poodle, Andy, provided care-giving-therapy to hospitals and care-giving communities in the Sun City, Arizona area. Barbara and Don have three children: Michael Marine, of Zionsville, Ind; Mitchell Marine, a Los Angeles, Calif., resident; and, Laura McMahan, now residing in Bryan, Texas. There are four grandchildren - Alex and Nate Marine and Emma and Liam McMahan. She was preceded in death by her brother Edward Rainbow of Denton, Texas. A memorial service for Barbara was held at The Unitarian Universalist Church of Surprise, 17540 N. Avenue of the Arts, Surprise, AZ 85378 on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a memorial gift in the name of Barbara Marine to "Benevilla - Cultivating Caring Communities," P.O.
