HOW TO
Follow these four easy steps to recycle your cooking oil:
-- Let the oil cool
-- Carefully pour the cooled cooking oil into a sturdy plastic, leak-proof container, such as the original container
-- Cap the container so it is secure, DO NOT mix with any other liquids or products
-- Schedule your appointment for a free pick-up
The city accepts all cooking oils: vegetable, canola, corn, olive, peanut, sesame, soybean, and sunflower, as well as frying oil, meat drippings, and lard.

Special to Independent Newsmedia
Avondale Public Works offers its Used Cooking Oil Recycling program as part of its commitment to sustainability.
This holiday season, Public Works encourages residents to take advantage of this eco-friendly service and dispose of their used cooking oil responsibly during the Thanksgiving season.
The service is free without having to leave the house.
“Recycling used cooking oil helps prevent it from clogging drains and causing environmental harm while also promoting the production of clean energy and biofuels,” Avondale Public Works Director Kirk Beaty shared in a press release. “By participating in this program, residents not only help keep their city clean and green but also contribute to a more sustainable future.”
How it Works:
Public Works offers a convenient home pick-up service for cooking oil with a scheduled appointment. Previously, residents would have to drop off their used cooking oil at the city’s Public Works facility, however, access to the facility is now restricted.
