The city of Avondale will observe Veterans Day on Saturday, Nov. 11 in honor of the service and sacrifice of U.S. military veterans.

As Veterans Day falls on a weekend, the city notes, there will be no impact on regular city services and operations. However, Avondale public libraries, which are usually open on Saturdays, will be closed that day.

The public is invited to a special Veterans Day 5k Run/Walk and Ceremony hosted at and in collaboration with Estrella Mountain Community College.
