As the August primary election looms, the Arizona Clean Elections Commission is hosting debates and gauging issues most important to voters — which officials there say don’t necessarily line up with the hottest headlines.
Since voters approved it in 1998, the Arizona Clean Elections Act, a five-member, non-partisan commission has been charged with administering a system for voter education, “clean” funding, and a watchdog of sorts for campaign finance enforcement.
In addition, Clean Elections officials contend, they provide the backbone for voter information helping to shape the questions and issues worth tackling amid any regular political season. Turns out, the Arizona Clean Elections Commission, in partnership with Arizona Public Broadcast System, host and moderate all political debates on public-access television here in Arizona.
