SUN CITY WEST - Alice Elizabeth Campbell, died peacefully on June 30, 2012, in Sun City West, Arizona. was born on July 31, 1916, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Charles L. and Sophie Simmons. Born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas, Alice attended Wyandotte High School and was a member of the National Honor Society. Alice was united in marriage to Robert Vernon Campbell on December 25, 1940, in Kansas City, Kansas. He preceded her in death on July 5, 2001. She was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company in Kansas City, Kansas for 35 years, in the Personnel Department and was a Pension and Benefits Advisor, retiring in 1982. She and Bob were very active in the Abdullah Shrine in Kansas City, Kansas, activities and they entertained and traveled the world together. She was a Past President of La Sertoma Civic Club. In 1984 they moved to Sun City West, Arizona, and enjoyed golfing, traveling, trout fishing, entertaining friends, and their many church activities as members of Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church. Alice served on many committees and also volunteered in the church office approximately eight years. She is survived by one niece, Carol Faris (Don) of Lane, of Kansas; a nephew, Fred Abernathy (Sharon), of Overland Park, Kansas; and close loving friends of many years, Joyce and Bruce Lambert, and Aneta and Floyd Barcus. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, John Simmons, Ernest Simmons and Charles Simmons; and one sister, Luceal Metz. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2012, in the Chapel of Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church, 13658 Meeker Blvd. Sun City West, Arizona, 85375. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the church.
