Aldama withdraws from Glendale mayoral race

Signature challenge leaves him short, Weiers uncontested

As a result of a legal challenge to his nominating petition signatures last week, Jamie Aldama dropped out of the Glendale mayoral race Monday afternoon, just before a court hearing.

Glendale resident Timothy Schwartz filed a complaint with superior court April 15, alleging  that 670 of the signatures Aldama’s campaign collected and filed were either forged, duplicated or represented nonregistered people.

Aldama sent a press release Monday afternoon announcing the reason for his withdrawl.
