Discussion and consultation with the city attorney on requirements under Presiding Magistrate Aaron Doug LaSota’s employment agreement relating to judicial officer appointments is a topic on the Apache Junction City Council’s Aug. 17 closed-door executive session.
The City Council is to meet in executive session, which is not open to the public, at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the City Council Conference Room, 300 E. Superstition Blvd.
LaSota was hired in a 6-1 vote July 6 by the City Council. He has a salary of $125,000 a year, according to the contract.
State law allows the meetings per Arizona Revised Statutes 38-431.03, which states, in part, that upon a public majority vote of the members constituting a quorum, a public body may hold an executive session. It goes on to list seven subsections detailing the types of meetings that may be held, according to azleg.gov.
