3-day Arizona Jazz Fest coming to Glendale

Valley will continue its tradition through the generations of hosting live jazz

Phoenix has a history with all sorts of music genres.

In the West Valley, late country superstar Marty Robbins was born and raised in Glendale, a city that continues to honor his memory with a street downtown named after him as well as a plaza. Veterans Memorial Coliseum has a long history of rock and roll legends who have played the Phoenix venue, from Jimi Hendrix to The Doors to Nirvana.

Blues, too. As long ago as 1957 the legendary Big Joe Turner came through for a show at the old Phoenix Show Palace. The late 60s/early 70s saw Albert King, B.B. King, Freddie King and Muddy Waters all play Phoenix.
