In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, Scottsdale-based Senior Placement Services hosted a food and supply drive to benefit veteran homeless shelters throughout the Valley.
“Our mission is to serve the underserved. With everything happening right now, we decided it was critical to host a food and supply drive for some of our most vulnerable,” said Liz Agboola, president and CEO of Senior Placement Services, in a prepared statement.
From April to June, SPS directly delivered 400 bags of critically needed food and hygiene supplies to Arizona veterans at Horace Steele Commons (part of Arizona Housing, Inc.) and Victory Place.
“Through the donations of our wonderful community, we were able to donate and offer immediate resources to some of our most vulnerable veterans, giving each of them a month’s worth of supplies,” said Ms. Agboola.
Based in Phoenix, Senior Placement Services is an assistance program that prioritizes long-term, assisted living housing for vulnerable veterans, elderly and homeless who are unable to live independently due to serious mental illness, traumatic brain injury and/or chronic medical conditions.
The family-run program specializes in assisting those applying for Arizona Long Term Care System. SPS placement specialists collaborate with homeless shelters throughout the Valley, including SMI care homes, assisted living facilities and nursing homes, to ensure needs are met.
In addition, SPS works with local hospitals to guarantee safe discharge for members requiring additional assistance following an inpatient stay.
