The Scottsdale Symphonic Orchestra has kicked off its 2026-27 season and has five more concerts planned through May, including a holiday performance and a program featuring music from “How to Train Your Dragon,” “The Pink Panther” and other animated films.
The orchestra opened its season Oct. 11 at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts with “Roots and Rhythm,” featuring conductor Desmond Siu and violin soloist Sicong Chen. The program included Edgar Meyer’s Violin Concerto and Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8.
Founder and principal oboist Denise Wilson said the opening concert was a success, with standing ovations for both the soloist and the orchestra.
