Scottsdale Society of Women Writers welcomes Cantrell as speaker, Feb. 22

Entrepreneur and author, Caren Cantrell will be the featured speaker at the Scottsdale Society of Women Writers meeting scheduled for 6 p.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 22.

The Panera Bread at Gainey Village, Scottsdale, 8777 N. Scottsdale Road, Suite 302, is the new in-person location, according to a press release. Attendees are advised to check-in to the restaurant between 5:15-5:30 p.m. to chat with members and guests, go through the buffet line and prepare for the meeting.

Cantrell, who has been a senior corporate executive, and small business owner, will share what she has learned about writing and marketing for children. She will discuss the multiple levels within children’s literature, word counts and emotions specific to each. Plus, she will offer some tips for marketing to this specialized group.

Since establishing 102nd Place, a publishing services company, Cantrell has shepherded over 70 books to publication, including novels, self-help, memoir, business, and children’s books, the release said of the author of various genres, who has published nine picture books, a middle-grade science-fantasy novel, and six non-fiction eBooks in the Planet Discovery Books for Kids series.

She won first place in the Arizona Authors Literary contest for Sea of Surprises, ninth place in the Writer’s Digest short story contest for Crow and Scarecrow, and third place in the Institute for Children’s Literature Mystery contest for Night Raiders.
