Scottsdale restaurant owners collaborate on underground lounge

Posted

The owners behind Scottsdale restaurants The Americano and Cala, helmed by chefs Scott Conant and Beau MacMillan, are joining forces to open Tell Your Friends, an underground cocktail and live music lounge in north Scottsdale opening this spring.

Tell Your Friends is a collaboration between Creation Hospitality, a division of Phoenix-based Creation co-founded by David Sellers and Bob Agahi, and Clive Collective, founded by restaurant industry veterans Mikis Troyan and Justin Massei.

Accessed through a side door at The Americano, guests of Tell Your Friends will enter a dimly lit vestibule enhanced by dramatic floral wallcoverings and a black-tile accented staircase that leads to the intimate lounge. Upon the descent, the venue reveals itself with rich maroon velvet drapes, mirrored walls and fanciful lighting. As the curtains are drawn, the focal point emerges – a bar adorned with floor-to-ceiling lights that seamlessly trace their way across the ceiling. The lounge will host nightly performances, featuring vocalists, musical acts and entertainers.

The cocktail-driven menu will feature a seasonal rotation of classic and craft cocktails, a wine list and small bites bearing the signature styles of culinary titans Conant and MacMillan.

Leading the interior design is Basile Studio, a California firm known for its work at such restaurants as Born and Raised and Morning Glory, both in San Diego. Construction on the space started this week by LGE Design Build. The opening is anticipated for early spring 2024.
