These lockboxes allow emergency responders to access residences without having to break in, according to a press release.
Lockbox codes are only shared with public safety departments in case of an emergency.
Scottsdale Fire has more than 3,600 lockboxes in the system, which are free for seniors and those with special needs who have annual incomes of less than $25,000. All other residents are asked to make a one-time donation of $30.
The lockboxes can save lives and property if someone can’t get to the door in an emergency, said Scottsdale Realtors President Allison Cahill.
The association launched one of the first such programs in the country back in 2004.
In addition to lockbox services, Scottsdale Realtors has more than 100 designated Senior Real Estate Specialists who are uniquely qualified to assist older adults looking for a lifestyle change.
